Multimedia Systems: Special Issue on Content-based Retrieval Vision Texture for Annotation
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper demonstrates a new application of computer vision to digital libraries { the use of texture for annotation, the description of content. Vision-based annotation assists the user in attaching descriptions to large sets of images and video. If a user labels a piece of an image as \water," a texture model can be used to propagate this label to other \visually similar" regions. However, a serious problem is that no single model has been found to be good enough to reliably match human perception of similarity in pictures. Rather than using one model, the system described here knows several texture models, and is equipped with the ability to choose the one which \best explains" the regions selected by the user for annotating. If none of these models suuces, then it creates new explanations by combining models. Examples are given of annotations propagated by the system on natural scenes. The system provides an average gain of four to one in label prediction over a set of 98 images.

Determination of Color, Texture and Edge Features for Content-Based Image Retrieval
Expansion of content-based image retrieval (CBIR) system has become a vital research issue as the digital image libraries and multimedia databases are increasing day by day. The image retrieval is divided into two major types: Text-based image retrieval and Content-based image retrieval. Conventional text-based image search engines apply manual annotation of images whereas the content-based ima...
متن کاملSemantic Based Image Annotation Using Descriptive Features and Retagging approach
The Semantic based annotation of an image is very important and a difficult task in content-based image retrieval (CBIR). The low-level features of the images are described using color and the texture features and the proposed model is used for semantic annotation of images. Also the textual annotations or the tags with multimedia content are the most effective approaches to organize and to sup...

Introduction: Content Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) is a method of image searching and retrieval in a database. In medical applications, CBIR is a tool used by physicians to compare the previous and current medical images associated with patients pathological conditions. As the volume of pictorial information stored in medical image databases is in progress, efficient image indexing and retri...
متن کاملImage Retrieval Based on Hierarchical Gabor Filters
Content Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) is now a widely investigated issue that aims at allowing users of multimedia information systems to automatically retrieve images coherent with a sample image. A way to achieve this goal is the computation of image features such as the color, texture, shape, and position of objects within images, and the use of those features as query terms. We propose to us...
